Choosing the right time to change systems
Timing matters far more than clients realise. We still hear people say, “We should wait until the end of the financial year.” That’s rarely necessary, and often not ideal.
The better question is, “When is this business at its quietest?”
System change always slows things down initially. Doing it during peak periods just compounds the pain.
A simple rule of thumb for accountants is to look for a slow cycle and a clean start point. Start of a month, start of a reporting cycle but definitely not in the middle of invoicing!
Helping clients choose the right timing can make the difference between a manageable transition and a stressful one.
If you want help planning that with clients, let’s have a chat.
